Running a command as another user on OS X

This command is quite useful to run commands as the postgres user when it’s installed on an OS X machine:

su -m postgres -c '<command>'

For example, to create a new database:

su -m postgres -c '/Library/PostgreSQL8/bin/createdb <database>'
